eir practice

The eir practice is a values-driven wellbeing practice founded by Inge Gnatt and is grounded in care, collaboration, and growth. Named after Eir the Norse goddess associated with healing, protection, and mercy, the practice reflects a deep commitment to guiding individuals gently through challenge and change. The word practice was chosen to honour the ongoing, evolving nature of personal growth.

Psychology

The eir practice is currently focused on providing psychological therapy to adults. The practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches and genuine human connection. We work in collaboration with other health care providers to prioritise the outcomes and goals of individuals who choose to work with us.

The practice supports people from all walks of life, from individuals navigating life’s complexities to high-performing athletes and professionals seeking clarity and balance. The Eir Practice is a place where healing is held with care, and growth is always guided gently.

Inge Gnatt - Psychologist

My name is Inge Gnatt and I am a registered psychologist with experience working across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings with individuals, families, and groups across the lifespan.

My current focus is on supporting adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties and life challenges, with a particular interest in eating and body image concerns. I work from a trauma-informed perspective that emphasises collaboration, transparency, and empowerment, always promoting choice and respecting each person’s unique experience. I originally trained as a classical dancer and love supporting other dancers to thrive in their careers and navigate transitions with dignity and agency.

My work is grounded in a strong evidence base, and I have been a Lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology since 2023, where I teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervise placements, and conduct research. My PhD research focused on the use of Compassion-Focused Therapy delivered as a group program for people recovering from trauma symptoms and disordered eating, and this continues to be an area of interest in my work.

My approach

The way I approach my work is always evolving, because every person I meet is different. One of my greatest strengths is being able to see what people are truly capable of often before they’re aware of it themselves. I’m comfortable sitting with people through their most difficult moments, and I love witnessing them reach their own goals, in their own way.

I take care to consider the whole person including their mental health, physical wellbeing, life circumstances, and value, and often work collaboratively with other health professionals to support the best possible outcomes. I find this work energising and feel it is a real privilege.

What to expect

I offer face-to-face psychological therapy, with each session lasting 50 minutes. A referral is not required to access therapy; however, you may choose to obtain one to be eligible for funding.

We’ll begin by developing a shared understanding of the concerns that have brought you to along, and from there, we can explore treatment options together. To support consistency and stability, we can arrange a regular appointment time at a mutually agreed frequency which will be revised collaboratively.
